Exercise with Oxygen at Peak Life Holistics
What is Exercise with Oxygen?
At Peak Life Holistics in Somers, we offer EWOT - Exercise with supplemental) Oxygen training which increases Oxygen to the lungs, blood, body and brain, cleansing and boosting overall functioning. EWOT works by increasing the amount of oxygen that is available to the body during exercise. By breathing in higher levels of oxygen during exercise, we can increase the amount of oxygen that is available to the body, which improves cellular health and promotes overall well-being.
During EWOT, a person will typically wear a specialized mask or nasal cannula that delivers higher levels of oxygen to the body. The mask or cannula may be connected to a machine that generates the oxygen, which is typically delivered at a concentration of 90-95%. The person will then perform exercise using either a stationary or recumbent bicycle, while breathing in the higher levels of oxygen.
The increased oxygen supply can help improve cellular health by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. It can also help increase energy levels, improve overall physical performance, improve blood flow and circulation, and help bring oxygen deep into the tissues and blood where it can be beneficial for people with cardiovascular disease, circulatory problems, and cogitive issues.
EWOT vs Hyperbaric Oxygen
At Peak Life Holistics, we offer an advanced adaptive contrast training program called EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Therapy), EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Therapy) sessions involve a process of alternating between breathing air containing 11% and 95% oxygen levels, which is different from the normal breathing oxygen level of approximately 23%. During cardiovascular exercise, the lower oxygen level of 11% leads to an increase in CO2 in the lungs. When the client experiences a need for more oxygen, typically within 30-60 seconds, the oxygen level is switched to 95%, which is then highly absorbed into the bloodstream due to the increased CO2 levels in the lungs. This process results in improved cellular vitality, tissue repair, and function, which is similar to but more efficient than using a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber.
The increased supply of oxygen improves countless chemical processes in the body, naturally enhancing the body's performance. In addition, oxygen also destroys disease-causing anaerobic bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, flus, and colds, which are unable to survive in an oxygen-rich environment.
Professional athletes often use this type of training to enhance their endurance and overall physical performance. Exercise With Oxygen Therapy has similar results to a Hyperbaric chamber session, but takes only a fraction of the time. Exercise With Oxygen sessions last 10-15 minutes, whereas a Hyperbaric Chamber session can run from 60-120 minutes.
