What Is dynamical Neurofeedback?
Dynamical neurofeedback provides your brain with real-time feedback about its own activity. Unlike traditional neurofeedback, it doesn’t push the brain in any one direction or require expensive QEEG scans or diagnoses. Instead, it works by offering subtle feedback to the brain that helps your central nervous system recognize and release patterns of inefficiency, stress, and dysregulation. Think of it like holding up a mirror to your brain—when it can see itself more clearly, it makes natural corrections and adjustments.
How It Works
During each 33-minute session, you'll sit back and relax while small sensors are placed on the head and ears to monitor brainwave activity. You’ll listen to soothing music while the system tracks the brain’s electrical signals in real time. Clients recline in a comfortable chair and rest or catnap during their session--making the experience relaxing and restorative.
When the software detects a shift in brainwave activity—called a “flutter”—it creates an instantaneous pause in the music. These pauses/interruptions are subtle but powerful. They signal to the brain to pay attention and self-correct, helping the brain return to more balanced and efficient states of being.
This course-correcting also happens in real life as the brain becomes more self-aware and resilient. Over time, the process becomes second nature. The brain learns to let go of stress, tension, and unwanted patterns, making room for change and new possibilities.

How Effective Is Neurofeedback, and How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Neurofeedback has shown remarkable results in helping the brain return to a state of balance and flexibility. Because our system does not “push” the brain in any specific direction, it allows for natural, self-guided improvement over time.
Many clients report feeling calmer, more focused, and uplifted after just one or two sessions. However, every brain is unique, and the number of sessions needed will vary. Some notice significant shifts early on, but we suggest committing to a minimum of 6 to 10 sessions. For deeper transformation, 15 to 20 or more sessions or may be beneficial.
Think of it like going to the gym for your brain—consistency matters, and the benefits build over time. Some clients come in 1x/weekly for general wellness and stress management until they feel better, while others will do multiple sessions at the start for more acute issues, and then taper off and come in as needed.
This form of Neurofeedback is non-invasive and doesn't require a diagnosis or pre-set protocol, it’s ideal for ongoing use as part of a proactive, holistic approach to mental and emotional well-being.
Is it Safe for Kids?
Yes! This form of Neurofeedback is 100% non-invasive, and safe for children and adults of all ages. There are NO harmful side effects, only benefits!
Because it is non-invasive, drug-free, and does not force the brain in any specific direction, this form of Neurofeedback is especially well-suited for developing brains and nervous systems. It simply provides information to the brain, allowing it to self-correct and return to a more balanced state naturally.
Neurofeedback can help support children with concerns like anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, sleep issues, and learning difficulties—often noticing improvements in mood, focus, and behaviors after just a few sessions. Sessions are gentle and relaxing, and kids often enjoy the experience of listening to music while the subconscious brain does all the work.
At Peak Life Holistics in Somers, NY, we work with children of all ages and take special care to create a safe, supportive and comfortable environment. We also encourage you to consider renting a system for the whole family to use from the comfort of home as that is often the most cost effective way to provide

Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions is Neurofeedback brain training helpful for?
Neurofeedback has been shown to be helpful for: Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Migraines, Mental Decline, Mood, Autism, Alzheimers, Dementia, Concussions, Whiplash, Addictions, Opioid and Drug Withdrawal Symptoms, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, OCD, Brain Fog, Post Cancer or Stroke Cognitive Impairment, Pans/Pandas, CIRS, Poor Concentration, Insomnia, Epilepsy, Eating Disorders, and Social Anxiety.
Do I need to start with a QEEG brain scan?
No. This form of neurofeedback does not require a QEEG brainscan or follow up scans.
Who is Neurofeedback for?
Neurofeedback is for everybody! Men, women and children can enjoy the benefit of brain optimization. Having said that, the client should be able to sit for approximately 33 minutes and be able to wear ear clips and head sensors. For children, we have found they can sit on a parent's lap or look at a book or screen to help pass the time.
How many sessions will I need to see results?
Many of our clients will notice positive results right away. We suggest trying 6-10 sessions to see if Neurofeedback will be beneficial to your situation. For some people, this is all that is needed to make a shift, for others it can be a slower journey with gradual improvement over time. Follow up sessions may be necessary once in a while to help "remind" the brain.
How often should I train?
You can train as often as everyday if you like. If you are renting a system, we encourage you to do as many sessions as possibe to get the most benefit. If you are coming in for sessions, starting with 1-2x/week is the most beneficial and then tapering as needed.
Can symptoms get worse?
While NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is very gentle and non-invasive, some clients may experience what feels like a set back, such as fatigue, emotional sensitivity, or a revisiting of patterns as the brain begins to self-regulate. These effects are typically short-lived and part of the natural healing/rebalancing process—not signs of harm or regression. We encourage clients to work past this as it is usually temporary.
What sensations will I feel?
Neurofeedback is easy and enjoyable. Other than the clips attached to the ears there are no other feelings. The client will simply be relaxing in a comfortable chair and listening to music.
Is Neurofeedback covered by insurance?
This form of Neurofeedback is not considered a medical treatment and we are not a medical facility, however some insurance plans and HSA accounts do provide reimbursement. Please check with your provider.
